‘황진이’의 서사적 변형과 생산에 관한 고찰

A superior female ideology created by a masculine gaze has been tenaciously handed down up to this 21st century. Hwangjini has been immortally transformed from a ‘superior woman’ to a ‘great person’ to a ‘scholar’ to an ‘ascetic’ and to a ‘grass root.’ The desire identified through the ever-transforming Hwangjini also represents the logic of ‘saint-making through desexualization.’ Despite their brilliant appearances, the Hwangjinis restructured in the 21st century including scholar Hwangjini, ascetic Hwangjini and grass root Hwangjini, in particular, are still locked into the logic of ‘female saint Hwangjini.’ Scholar Hwangjini represents an imaginative father"s faithful daughter to whom mothers" dangerous desire and lowly bodies are denied; acetic Hwangjini refers to an imaginative mother sent by a destiny; and grass root Hwangjini indicates a grass root of true morality imagined in the place from which a female was erased. The various plays surrounding Hwangjini ultimately converge into a single definition called an ‘asexual female saint.’<BR> In the sadistic desire surrounding Hwangjini, ‘sex’ is erased without fail and only ‘female’ is filled in, while female Hwangjini dies and female saint Hwangjini remains. Thus this much violence is crouching in all divine things. As female saint Hwangjini makes a soft landing on the male-dominated land, the worldly cracks created by female Hwangjini are stitched up hurriedly. The whole world in the text becomes peaceful again and the world, which desires female saint Hwangjinis who “embroider heroes” silently, is again left intact.
