Review of ecological consciousness characteristics in the novels of early industrialization stage

&nbsp;&nbsp;Though ecoism comes from West, it closely relates with our traditional monistic world view about human being and nature. The equality thoughts of all creatures include human being and the monistic world view which ecoism emphasizes are already situated in our traditional thoughts. From continuous viewpoint, this research re-illuminates current Korean literary works during last 100 years by ecological measure. After reviewing the papers which observed the relationship between ecoism and traditional nature view in the novels of pre-industrialization, this paper investigates ecological characteristics of the novels in early stage of industrialization.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Traditional view of nature that pursues harmonious relationship between human and nature transfigures drastically after industrialization. Modernization has accomplished only focused on solving poverty problem. So nature fell down as tool for human being. Nature has destroyed drastically by reckless development. The ecological novels which appear in industrialization early stage, expose the destruction situation which the industrialization brings about. Showing value loss of the human being, it criticizes the human being centered world view back of modern time. The cause of human rights loss and nature destruction is caused by a dichotomy measuring stick of modern time. Environmental matter is treated in the great talk that deals with human rights recovery.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The novels of early industrialization stage do not embodied various ecological consciousness. Only these remain on exposure and accusation level. These diagnose the cause of destruction and search for the alternatives but still remain in feeble level. It is because the goal for exposing the destruction situation of industrialization after. As the industrialization reaches to the track, ecological consciousness changes in the various forms. Let&quot;s remain these various forms of ecological consciousness for future study. When these papers are completed, the history of Korean modern ecological novels will be born. If we expand the research territory to the pre-industrialization period, it will be able to investigate a Korean literature from continuous viewpoint.
