Research at the Zhoukoudian Site

  주구티엔유적은 중국 더 넓게는 동아시아의 고인류학, 구석기 고고학과 제4기지질학의 요람이다. 수많은 사람화석, 포유동물 화석, 문화유물들이 이 곳에서 발견되었다. 이 논문은 주구티엔유적에 대한 과학적 연구사를 간략하게 소개하고 최근의 고고학적 성과를 보고하고자 하는데, 여기에는 티안유안 동굴에서 새로 발견된 슬기슬기사람의 발견, 숨겨진 동굴에서 퇴적이 발견된 용골언덕의 지구물리학적인 조사 성과 및 15지점에서 발견된 석기의 분석 연구도 포함되는데, 이 유적이 갖는 인류학적, 고고학적 및 지질학적 연구의 학술적인 중요성과 잠재력을 평가하고 미래의 연구 방향에 대한 몇 가지 제안을 하고자 한다.

  Zhoukoudian Site is the cradleland of Paleoanthropology, Paleolithic archeology and Quaternary geology in China and greater East Asia. Numerous hominid fossils, mammalian fossils and cultural remains were unearthed from the site. This paper presents a brief history of scientific research at Zhoukoudian, reports the achievement of recent archaeological investigations at the site, including the discovery of new Homo sapience sapience fossils from the Tianyuan Cave, geophysical-geophysical surveys at the Dragon Bone Hill from which new deposits were detected from hidden caves, and analyses of lithic materials from Locality 15, assesses the site’s academic significance and potentials for anthropological, archaeological and geological research, and makes some suggestions for future research.
