This paper explores the survival of accusative case in passives. I argue that the selectional relation between an external argument introducing head and a verb that assigns accusative case via Agree is crucial in accounting for the survival of accusative case in passives. I also show that there are at least two different passive Voice heads in natural languages, which is also responsible for the survival of accusative case in impersonal passives.
