지식기반사회에서의 대학교육 개혁의 이념

Ideas of University Education Reform in the Knowledge - Based Society

  독일에서 발달된 대학의 연구이념, 영국에서 발달된 대학의 교육이념, 그리고 미국에서 발달된 대학의 사회봉사 이념을 합쳐 이 세 가지 이념을 우리는 흔히 대학의 이념이라고 말한다. 그러나 이 세 가지 대학이념은 시대의 변천에 따라 특정 이념이 두드러지게 강조되기도하였다. 그러나 동일한 시대라 하더라도 각 대학이 처한 상황에 따라 세 가지 이념이 적절한 비율 배분으로 조화롭게 조합되어 제시되어야 한다. 이와 함께 지식기반사회가 선호하는 이상적 인간상에 비추어 볼 때, 지식기반사회에서의 대학교육개혁의 이념은 수월성의 이념, 다양성의 이념, 자율성의 이념, 개방성의 이념, 전체성의 이념, 인간화의 이념, 계속성의 이념이되어야 할 것이다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;The purpose of this study is to investigate some ideas of university education reform in the knowledge-based society.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Universities have a key part to play in this new era. They have always been important centers for the generation and application of knowledge. As knowledge and services become more significant products and as the technological underpinnings continually change, universities and their graduates become even more important. But universities also have an international outlook. We know that knowledge has never respected national boundaries. Leading academics have always worked internationally and they will collaborate with the other leaders in their fields regardless of where they are located. Knowledge transcends boundaries and, when the best people work together, knowledge can advance significantly.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Universities are expected to create knowledge, to improve equity, and to respond to student needs. They are increasingly competing for students, research funds and academic staff. Such changes inevitably create tensions. They need to a creative balance between academic mission and executive capacity, and between financial viability and traditional values. And also government have to balance the encouragement of excellence with the promotion of equity.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;In an increasingly complex and interrelated policy environment, the ideas of university education reform have to be established. The ideas of university education reform that we have to pursue in the knowledge-based society are as follows; idea of excellence, idea of diversity, idea of openness, idea of totality, idea of humanization, and idea of continuity.
