FTA Policy of EU and its Implication for korea-EU FTA

&nbsp;&nbsp;Korea signed Free trade agreements (hereafter FTA) with Chile, Singapore, and EFT A. Korea is also making efforts to establish a FTA with the USA. the EU, Japan and China at the same time. Among these, in particular, the discussion on the FTA with the USA is one of the current hot issues in Korea.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;It is expected that the Korea-EU FTA negotiations will be able to be progressed much faster than the Korea-USA FTA negotiations if the negotiation starts. This is mainly because Korea already signed a FTA with the EFTA member states and because the EU also does not want to open its agricultural market like Korea. The opening of the agricultural market has been one of the issues showing big differences in the positions of Korea and the USA at the negotiation for the Korea-USA FTA.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;In this study, we mainly discuss about the Korea-EU FTA which seems to be relatively easier to be completed than the Korea-USA FTA. For this, firstly we review the FTA policy of the EU. We also analyze the economic effects of the Korea-Ell FT A. comparing it with the economic effects of the Korea-USA FTA. Finally, based on this research, we will make some suggestions to contribute to the successful completion of the Korea-EU FTA.
