Purpose: This study was to determine the relation among pelvic floor muscle exercise adherence, vaginal pressure and urinary incontinence in women with stress incontinence who were finished 12 weeks pelvic floor muscle exercise training. Method: The subjects were sixty-four women with stress incontinence. The data were collected from May, 21th to September, 11th, 2004. The subjects participated in pelvic floor muscle exercise training for 12 weeks. The data were analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient with SPSS/WIN 11.0 program. Result: 1) There was a negative correlation between pelvic floor muscle exercise adherence and urinary incontinence frequency(r= -0.33, p=0.008), volume of stress incontinence (r= -0.41, p=0.001). 2) There was a positive correlation between pelvic floor muscle exercise adherence and peak vaginal pressure(r=0.67, p=0.000), endurance vaginal pressure(r=0.61, p=0.000). 3) There was a negative correlation between pelvic floor muscle contraction(peak vaginal pressure, endurance vaginal pressure) and stress incontinence level(frequency and volume of stress incontinence). Conclusion: It might be necessary to improve the pelvic floor muscle exercise adherence for decreasing stress incontinence.
