On the Evaluation of the Buddhist Social Welfare

  It"s time to upgrade the buddhist social welfare with proper evaluation system. The evaluations by government have some limits not fitting for the buddhist welfare services. That"s because there is some difference of welfare ideology between the buddhist and the general society, and because the current evaluators entrusted by the government don"t know or ignore the religious agencies" specialities. So they should develop the more suitable system in the buddhist social agencies by comparing with the current evaluations. I suggest some aspects to build a buddhist model of evaluation. First, the evaluation should be done by the inner subjects as the related buddhist orders, the temples and the supporting individuals. Second, the bounds of evaluation should include all of the welfare services given in the temples and by any other buddhist groups. Third, the evaluation scale should reflect on the buddhist ideology as the agency"s goal or program objectives or worker"s specialty and so on. This is a study for the accreditation system of the buddhist social welfare in the near future.
