Hyobong, the Establisher of Modern Kanhwa-Zen and the Successor of Tradition of Suseon-temple

&nbsp;&nbsp;I studied on the life and thought of Hyobong-Haknul, The representative Korean modern learned Buddhist priest. I tried light up the Korean modern Buddhism objectively and the role of Hyobong who had established the Korean modern Buddhism newly.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;First of all, I inquired into the problem through Hyobong&quot;s life, &quot;How can we pratice Kanhwa-Zen and how should the practicer&quot;s life be?&quot;. The inquiry into those problems would help to illuminate the characteristics of Korean modern Buddhism.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Secondly, I focused on the problem,&quot;What is Hyobong&quot;s selection to recover the original form of Korean Buddhism and to succeed to the right line of Buddha?&quot;. I thought that Hyobong had tried to establish newly Korean modern Buddhism by succeeding the tradition of Suseon-temple of Bojo-Chinul. The spirit of succession to Bojo&quot;s thought, Sudden enlightenment and gradual cultivation and Both cultivation samadhi and prajna is the important point to prescribe the original form and characteristics of Korean Buddhism. That spirit provide against Seongcheol&quot;s view.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Finally, I examined the inner relation of Hyobong&quot;s Kanhwa-Zen with Bojo&quot;s thought .I considered that there were individuality and the spirit of succession to Bojo&quot;s thought in that inner relation.
