A Study on the social scientific methodology of "Pogyohak"

  This study began with my interest in the Methodology of "Pogyohak" and the research of just how to preach Buddhism in Korea. The purpose of this study is to conceptualize, with the literature information, the phenomenon of "Pogyo" and to search for the best approach of social science. That methods are included quantitative and qualitative approach, normative, empirical and practical approach. The sub field of social science in the relation to "Pogyohak" are sociology, psychology, anthropology, political science, public administration, and economics. Pogyo activities are very important factor of the social role and action of Buddhism and the increasing of buddhist in korea. In order to develop Pogyohak, it is necessary to study Buddhism culture, characteristics of religion, and the religious needs of korean.
