This paper describes the ongoing research on the design of a context aware model Ontology dedicated to smart environment for dependant people (aging and disabilities). The aim of this research work is to provide “just-in-time” services for accessibility and assistance of people with disabilities and elderly people in their own daily living environment.
Existing context aware frameworks did not consider these types of application, nor anticipated the development of adapted ontology taking into account the user profile of dependant people.
In this paper we present our current context aware ontology based model, issued from former development on human-machine interface experimented in real life environment with people having severe physical disabilities. The aim is to provide an appropriate ontology based model applied to assistive technology. The ultimate goal objective is to build a context aware assistive framework fostering a rapid and widespread adoption of assistive services in order to enable people with disabilities and ageing citizens to fully participate to society.
