It is a difficult task chasing Korean"s Buddhist monks to examine their activity in China. Under the circumstance that historical materials for the search are not abundant, the finding can only rely on a few records on several history books.<BR> Even if there are materials showing what and where the monks seeked, it is still hard to be proceeded to find out the temples in present China.<BR> Discovering the temples does not mean only finding the monks staying place but also getting to know what they did in China and Korean Buddhism"s traits.<BR> Most Shila"s monks went to the southern area of Yangtzu River where lots of Zen Buddhism"s temples concentrate during this period. Moreover. at this time they could use the marine route that was not developed until the middle of Shila Dynasty. The easier transportation made it possible for more monks to go abroad to seek the knowledge.<BR> It is amusing to find out plenty of Korean monks educated under a lot of Chinese Zen masters. Knowing their achievements can read to understanding Korean Buddhism history.
