산업집중도 및 기업규모와 기술혁신노력

An Analysis on the Impact of Concentration Ratio and Firm Size on Technological Innovation

  최근 3년간 연구개발활동이 있었던 상장기업들을 대상으로 하여 우리나라에서도, 또 최근에도 기업의 연구개발투자비중이나 연구인력비중과 같은 기술혁신노력이 산업집중도나 기업규모에 대해 역U자형 관계를 가지고 있는지에 대한 검증을 시도한 결과 먼저 산업집중도와 기술혁신노력에 있어서는 역U자형 가설이 여전히 유효함을 입증하였다. 그러나 기업규모와 기술혁신 노력에 있어서는 역U자형 대신 정반대의 모양을 가진 U자형의 결과를 도출하였다. 즉 기업규모가 아주 작거나, 아주 큰 기업들이 중간영역의 기업들보다 기술혁신노력에서 앞서고 있다는 것이다. 이와 같은 결과가 유도된 것은 최근 코스닥시장의 등장으로 인한 기술집약형 중소기업 창업의 활성화와 아울러 우리나라의 대기업들의 대형화와 글로벌화에 기인한 것으로 추정된다.

  A regression analysis on the relationship between industrial structure and technological innovation efforts has been done with recent firm data to see whether the reversed U-shaped relationship can also be found in Korea. While the reversed U-shaped relationship has been reconfirmed between technological innovation efforts and concentration ratio, a U-shaped curve has been found between technological innovation efforts and firm-size which is against old research outcomes. New outcome of this study seems to reflect recent change in R&D activities of Korea"s manufacturing firms advanced with globalization of large-size firms as well as affluent supply of technology-intensive small-size firms of KOSDAQ.
