Legal Professionals" Corruptions and the downside of Social Capital in South Korea

&nbsp;&nbsp;Recent theoretical work employing the concept of ‘social capital’ appears to focus mainly on only positive aspects and neglect dark side of it. In this study, explorations regarding South Korean judical corruptions were made under the framework of negative aspect of social capital. Five cases were selected and analyzed using pattern-matching technique.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The results indicated that the downside of social capital, such as cronyism, is directly represented in the South Korean judicial deviances. This study also revealed that the new form of corruption whose goal is to influence court&quot;s decision emerged, although typical judical deviances was related to the lawyers&quot; intentions of securing more client in criminal cases.
