Diversification and Fashion Trend of Hanbok - Focused on Hanbok from the Opening of Korea, that occurred in the latter half of the 19th century, till now -

&nbsp;&nbsp;In this study, we want to have the chance to recognize anew the characteristics and the beauty of Hanbok, that has been faced with the new turning-point today, and to put the great significance on searching the present condition of Hanbok in 2000&quot;s. Therefore first we examined the trend of Hanbok since the opening of Korea till now, and tried to grasp of the diversification and fashion trend of Hanbok that has been appeared anew and based on the cultural background of 2000&quot;s.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Since recent times the changes and periodical characteristics of Hanbok, having been engaged with the periodical and social background, are as follows.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;In the period of the opening, improved Hanbok appeared, influenced by the inflow of western style, in the middle of the dissension between the traditional Confucianism and the Enlightenment. In the period of the reign of Japanese empire, Hanbok, mingling the traditional style with the western style, appeared with placing importance on practical use. In 1950&quot;s Hanbok was used as the everyday clothes in general but Hanbok and the western clothes coexisted by the influx of the western sense of value. After middle of 1960&quot;s, the western clothes were used in everyday life, but Hanbok was apt to be used as the formal dress. In 1970&quot;s traditional Hanbok became higher in quality and more fashionable by the establishment of the A-line silhouette.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Since the middle of 1980&quot;s, the traditional ornamentation was applied in Hanbok. Hanbok of 1990&quot;s put the importance on personality and was improved in the aspect of design and was influenced by the higher appreciation and understanding of traditional Hanbok.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;In 2000&quot;s, the new recognition of the Korean culture and national self-esteem were inspired over the whole field of the Korean society and culture so the interest in Hanbok was increased. Hanbok of 2000&quot;s is not only developed in the item and coloration, but also becomes various with the newly appearing the fashion Hanbok and fusion Hanbok in addition to the existing traditional Hanbok, improved Hanbok and living Hanbok.
