The purpose of this study was to analyze difference of knee strength and functional performance ability between injured side and non injured side in knee operated patients. The study population was consisted of 16 knee operated patients including 8 for injured side and 8 for non injured side. They attended to knee rehabilitation program by one exercise treatment therapist at N rehabilitation center. All participants were assessed knee strength of the knee extensor and flexor by Biodex system and were measured distance of the one leg hop and triple hop. Functional performance test include carioca, sidestep and shuttle run, The data were analyzed using Independent t-test was applied to assess difference of knee strength and functional performance parameters between injured side and non injured side. Pearson correlation coefficients were calculated to evaluate the relationship between functional performance and knee strength. The results indicated that significant difference was found for one leg hop (t=4.149, p<0.01 for right; t=7.865, p<0.001 for left) and triple hop (t=6.232, p<0.001 for right and t=4.834, p<0.01 for left) between injured side and non injured side. Also there were significant difference for knee extension and knee flexion in right and left knee strength between injured side and non injured side. However, no difference was obtained for H/Q ratio between injured side and non injured side. Significant positive relationship could observed between one leg hop and knee extension and flexion strength for injured side and non injured side. Triple hop had significant positive relationship with knee extension and flexion strength for injured side and non injured side. Functional performance had significant negative relationship with knee extension strength for injured side and non injured side. This study suggests that basal knee evaluation data for functional performance ability is needed using a longitudinal study design from pre-operate to post-operate.
