A Study on the AppIicability of the Free Trade Zone Law in the Busan Ship SuppIy Complex

  In response to increasing needs of ship supply companies in Busan, Korean government is planning to establish a "Busan Ship Supply Distribution Complex" in Youngdo Area. Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries also seeks to designate this area as Free Trade Zone according to the newly enacted law called" Act on designation and management of free trade zones". However, analyzing the applicability. of the law is a key step in measuring the benefits of the construction, which remains one of the first port cluster facility that still lacks a indepth studies. So, this paper reports on the applicability and feasibility regarding free trade zone application. This research also identifies a series of new and distinctive problem areas that can influence the application of the FTZ law.
