A Study on the Chinese Port Development and the Competitiveness Reinforcement of Busan New Port

  The port industry has undergone a rationalization process over the last decade. An increasing proportion of port management and operations is being taken over by global port operating groups. In the era of global economy, a port no longer enjoys a natural monopoly. With the growth of Chinese economy, China becomes one of the most important countries at the international trade. Chinese container port develpment will continue until 2010. Accordingly, there is getting more keen competition among the ports of northwest asia. The purpose is to analyze the China port development and the competitiveness reinforcement of Busan new port. Busan new port must preoccupy high position in competition from China mainland port. The ways to achieve the hub port for Busan new port are to attract the super containership, to create of innovative connection transshipment market, to expand of inland logistics facilities etc.
