Exploring the educational implications of pupil engagement with IT in the secondary school in Korea and the UK

&nbsp;&nbsp;본 연구의 목적은 한국과 영국의 중등학교 교육현장에서 컴퓨터 사용의 결과로 나타나는 교육적 영향을 분석하는 것이다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하기 위해 한국과 영국의 교육환경에 대한 질적 연구를 실시하였다. 질적 자료는 수업에의 참여 관찰, 반 구조화된 심층 면담 과 시각 자료를 통해 수집하여 분석하였다.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;본 연구 결과는 5개의 비교 준거 (교육의 중요성, 이해의 중요성, IT의 중요성, 인간관계의 중요성, 문화의 중요성)를 중심으로 분석하였다. 결과적으로 본 연구는 IT 활용교육에 초점을 두었음에도 불구하고, 실제 연구 과정에서 발견된 중요한 이슈는 교사, 학생, 교육관계자, 연구자 간의 상호작용과 의사소통으로 나타났다. 학생들의 학습 과정을 연구할 때 사람, 그들의 행동, 상호작용과 협동 능력이 가장 중요한 이슈로 나타났다. 문화와 교육 환경의 차이에도 불구하고 인간적 요소와 IT사이의 관계성이 핵심적이고 중요한 문제인 것으로 발견되었다. 결론적으로, 교육에서 IT의 역할이 점점 강조되는 시기에, 공교육으로서의 학교 교육은 인간의 가치와 IT를 접목시키는데 초점을 두어야 함을 제안하는 바이다. 미래의 학교 교육은 그 안에서 다른 사람을 위하여 사랑, 배려, 관심을 표현하며 또한 그 안에서 서로 관계를 맺고 함께 행동하는 과정이어야 할 것이다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;This article describes the implications of the cultural setting in relation to computer use in Korea and the UK. There are many changes common to education in both Korea and the UK, and elsewhere, which suggests that education has been affected by the trends of globalisation. As a result, considering education and social contexts, this article revealed the importance of human factors in learning environments, whether it is in Korea or in the UK. This study suggests that despite the differences in culture and educational settings, the relationship between human factors and IT is essential and significant.
