  Societal responses to, or justification of, violence committed against women is a measure of the extent to which democracy applies to women in South Korea. Self-determination, one of critical elements of democracy has, on a few occasions, become a theoretical tool in judging women victims of violence while the full application of autonomy has not been rendered to them in their ordinary daily life activities.
