Psychological Independence from Parents, Self-esteem, Sexual Values, and Sexual Behavior among College Students

&nbsp;&nbsp;The purpose of tills study was to examine path model of the relationship among college students&quot; psychological independence from parents, identity, sexual values, and sexual behavior. In a sample of 245 college students Cheongju city, data was analyzed with the method of frequency, mean, and path analyses.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The results were follows:<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;1. Males showed more positive sexual values than females did, as well as higher level of sexual behaviors.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;2. Some gender differences were found the path model explaining sexual behaviors. For males, functional independence from mothers and conflictual independence from parents had indirect effects on sexual behaviors through identity and sexual values, while for females, only functional independence from fathers had indirect effect on sexual behavior through identity and sexual values. For both males and females, initiative and intimacy parts of identity had significant influence on sexual values which had direct effect on sexual behaviors.
