Determinants of Old Persons" Participation in the Labor Market

&nbsp;&nbsp;Starting from the year 2000, Korea has entered the Aging Society and it is expected that 14.3% of the total population will reach the Aged Society of more than 65 years old people in 2018. For an improvement of a quality in life and a stable old age, the old persons&quot; participation in the labor market is very essential. In this regard, it is urgently requested to provide a system to stably maintain the old persons&quot; economic activities. This study examined the current state for the economic activities by old persons of more than 50 years old and analyzed the factor affecting their participation in the labor market through an analysis on panel data of the Korea Labor Institute in 2003.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;As a result of analysis, the old persons&quot; participation in the labor market showed a statistically significant difference depending on the variables such as a sex, age, education, economic support from their occupation, it was found out as satisfactory in the majority items except the salary or remuneration(m=2.57) and working hours(m=2.92).
