Literature has been considered core contents in language arts education for the verbal-talented. It contributes to the development of their higher-order thinking skills and emotional sensitivity. This paper aims to propose two different activities utilizing literature in teaching the verbal-talented by showing two examples.<BR> Two different ways of using literature are derived from Little"s distinction between ‘literature experience’ and ‘discursive experience’. When one wants to focus on the former experience, he or she can employ ‘literature web’. In the activity employing ‘literature web’, students will be asked to work to identify key words, feelings, ideas, images and symbols, and structural elements of a given text.<BR> When one wants to focus on the latter experience, he or she can use a given text to get more information or understand social and historical context through the lives of divers characters shaped in the text.<BR> Each way should be applied distinctively to maximize the effect of literature-based activities in the education for the verbal-talented.
