This study is intended to analyze every novels published by Yu Miri, especially, categorizing the first person novel, the third person novel and Diaspora novel in detail. Yu Miri wrote her experiences in her first person novels, 〈Fish swimming around the rock〉, 〈Full house〉, 〈Bean Sprout〉, 〈Family Cinema〉 and others on family affairs. Through one of the general features of first person description, she exposed herself as stigmatic self.<BR> In her third person novels, such as 〈Tile〉, 〈Gold Rush〉, 〈A Girl Student"s Friend〉 〈Rouge〉 and etc, she focused on the estranged people from the main stream of a society, showing her situation; actually, as a Korean resident in Japan, Yu Miri, herself had to experience of a marginal being. The above works, both first person novels and third person novels telling a collapse of family and the existence of a marginal man, evidence the identity of Yu Miri, as a Korean resident in Japan.<BR> Yu Miri, since she published two works; 〈A Man〉 and 〈Life〉, tried to find her roots. One of her works, 〈The Other Side of August〉 is an autobiographical novel in which a maternal grandfather, Yang Imdeuk is hero. While writing 4 generations of family history and turbulent modern history, Yu Miri confirms the diasporatic identify of herself. The work, 〈The Other Side of August〉 is valuable as a diaspora novel from the fact that she uses real names so that the past, present and future of Korea and Japan is plainly revealed from the viewpoint of a Korean resident in Japan and through her identity.
