The Determinants of Mobility and Location into Housing for the Elderly

&nbsp;&nbsp;1. CONTENTS<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;(1) RESEARCH OBJECTIVES<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The aim of this study is to suggest the directions of elderly housing development positively. This paper includes two statistical models, one is elderly mobility model and the other is elderly location model. In this process, this study focuses on middle aging groups who will be real elderly housing demander in future in the sample selection for investigation. And this research attempts to consider the impact of housing characteristics and neighborhood characteristics as well as personal characteristics on elderly housing mobility and location.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;(2) RESEARCH METHOD<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Discrete choice model, logit model<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;(3) RESEARCH RESULTS<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The analysis of legit model for the exploration of the determinants of elderly housing mobility and location shows that the variables to denote living with their family, the necessities of elderly housing, ownership, environment evaluation playa major in location decisions as well as mobility decisions.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;2. RESULTS<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Residential mobility and location for the elderly mostly depends on the problems of whether living with their children together, the level of necessities of elderly housing for their current position and tenure status. Their evaluations of the environments circumscribing with their residence are highly likely to associate with mobility and location for the elderly.
