The Revitalization of Railroad Cargo Transportation under Korea Express Train Environment

&nbsp;&nbsp;Up to now, the railroad cargo transportation in Korea has not been well utilized and has lost its competitiveness advantage as major domestic transportation mode. Thus our research tries to examine and conceptualize the railroad cargo transportation service quality, measure the perception of its service quality, and suggest the revitalization strategies for the railroad cargo transportation.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;To derive the factors of the railroad cargo transportation service quality, we use the Delphi as the empirical methodology and major findings are as follows. First, railroad cargo transportation service quality was confirmed as total ten factors such as tangible accessibility, intangible accessibility, tangibility, expertism, interfacing, on-time delivery, speed, cost-advantage, safety, and accuracy. Second, as the result of the gap analysis for the service expectation and performance of railroad cargo transportation, factors that make the significant gaps among above ten factors are found as interface, on-time delivery, speed, and cost-advantage.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;This results imply that the revitalization strategies should focus on the improvement of these four service factors. And our research suggests that the six detail strategies for the effective revitalization of railroad cargo transportation.
