A Study on the Improvement Scheme of the Special Act on Urban Improvement Promotion

&nbsp;&nbsp;1. CONTENTS<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;(1) RESEARCH OBJECTIVES<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The purpose of this study is to present a plan to improve the Special Act on Urban Improvement Promotion. In particular, this study aims at presenting several improvement schemes through changes in the legal aspect of the Special Act on Urban Improvement Promotion established for global and strategic development.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;(2) RESEARCH METHOD<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;This study used a legal approach to make comparative review of the Special Act on Urban Improvement Promotion and related laws and previous researches.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;(3) RESEARCH RESULTS<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The Special Act on Urban Improvement Promotion attracts a lot of expectations but has various problems indicated. It can be said that the act is more effective in urban regeneration projects for the existing old downtown as compared with such individual laws as the Urban and Residential Environment Improvement Law and the Urban Development Law; however, if the current problem s are solved, it will be possible to overcome the phenomenon of regional disparity within a city more effectively.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;2. RESULTS<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;This study aims at presenting an improvement scheme in order for the Special Act on Urban Improvement Promotion to serve as a law to remove regional disparity within a city more effectively. To implement urban regeneration projects for the existing old downtown more effectively by applying the Special Act on Urban Improvement Promotion, it is necessary to improve legislation, efficiency of projects, and protection of residents&quot; interests and bring changes into appropriate laws and institutions.
