  나는 곧 나의 뇌이다. 인간의 대뇌는 좌뇌와 우뇌로 나누어져 있고, 그 사이가 뇌량으로 연결되어 있다. 좌뇌는 이성적, 논리적, 언어적, 수리적, 분석적, 합리적인 반면 우뇌는 감성적, 직관적, 시각적, 공간적, 종합적, 창의적이다. 인간의 뇌는 태어날 때 가장 많은 뇌세포를 가지고 태어나며, 태어나면서부터는 뇌세포 끼를 연결하는 작업이 활발하게 이루어져 3년 만에 뇌의 무게를 세 배 가량 늘려 놓는다. 그 사람의 지능이나 성격은 이런 연결망인 수상돌기와 시냅스가 결정한다. 미술은 주로 우뇌와 관계한다. 학교교육이 대부분 좌뇌 편향이기 때문에 자연과 예술 활동으로 뇌의 조화롭고 균형 있는 계발을 꾀해야 한다. 미술은 외부 정보의 80%를 차지하는 시각과 직결되고, 인간의 본능인 정서와 감정과 관련되며, 주로 우뇌의 특성을 활성화시키는 가장 좋은 활동 중 하나이기 때문에, 뇌와 관련하여 미술활동은 본질적이다. 미술은 학생들의 능동적인 참여와 자기 내적동기를 강조하고, 미술 활동에 몰두하여 새롭고 남과 다르게 생각하고 표현하며, 그것을 실생활과 연결시켜 적용할 때 뇌는 효과적으로 움직이고 계발된다.

We are living in a world that needs original ideas and creative brains, but in our educational reality, we still tend to emphasize left-brain oriented education. As is common knowledge, the human brain is divided into the left and right brain, and each part has a different structure and function. The outcome of these differences is that the children with well-developed left-brain read books analytically and show marked reaction to the linguistic explanation when someone read books to them. On other hand, the children with a well-developed rightbrain show reaction to the gesture, expression of reading, illustration, symbolic suggestion and the like.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Students can have complex thinking processes through art by using right brain and through the development of right &amp; left brains. The role of brain in the art education is vary important, because a drawing of present material is enabled by the brain’s processing perception of present material, and to thought about art is also processed by brain transferred from sight, by that reason this theory is discussed and explained about he brain’s structure and function related to arts, and early education, also the children’s art education.
