미술교육에서 ‘종이 바수기’의 적용 가능성에 관한 연구

A Study on the Possibilities of Improving Art Education through the Methods of ‘Paper Folding and Cutting(Basugi)’

  본 연구는 과거 50년 전만해도 우리 일상생활 속에 널리 퍼져 있었지만, 현재 일부 지역에서 치유를 위한 제의(祭儀)적 목적으로 법사들에 의해 겨우 명맥이 유지되고 있는 ‘종이 바수기’의 제작방법에서 미술교육적 적용 및 새로운 교육적 도구의 가능성을 모색하는데 목적이 있다. 연구내용과 방법으로 첫째, ‘종이 바수기’의 유래, 의미 등을 간단히 살펴보았다. 둘째, 수집한 실제작품사진 및 자료 등을 통해 조형적 특징과 기초적인 제작방법을 정리하였다. 셋째, 그 제작방법을 근거로 ○○교육대학교 3학년 학생에게 실제 적용하고, 보다 다양한 제작과정으로 확보된 작품결과물을 정리하였다. 끝으로 이를 바탕으로 기존에 널리 활용되고 있는 종이접기방법과 비교하여 초ㆍ중등미술교육에서 적용 가능성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 ‘종이 바수기’의 제작방법과 조형적 특성 자체에서 우리 전통미술의 활용에 따른 계승발전, 다양한 기초적 조형미 학습의 손쉬운 접근, 독창적 표현에 따른 사고력 증진, 평면에서 입체표현까지 연속적 노작활동에 따른 폭넓은 조형체험, 색다른 배색표현 등의 미술교육적 적용 가능성을 모색할 수 있었다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;The purpose of this paper was to explore the possibilities of improving art education through the methods of ‘paper folding and cutting(Basugi)’ which had been sustained by Korean shamans for religious purposes and widely penetrated into Korean folklore for last 50 years. For the accomplishment of this purpose, this study conducted by related literature review and qualitative action research methodology.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The procedures of the study were as follows: First, the origin and meanings of Basugi had been studied by literature review. Second, based on the real photos and related data collected, the researcher identified the plastic characteristics and basic methods of Basugi. Third, the revised methods of ‘paper folding and cutting’ had been applied into junior student classes of Gwangju National University of Education, and the results of students works had been critically reviewed. Finally, the researcher analyzed the possibilities of improving art education in both elementary and secondary levels by comparing the paper folding methods which had been prevailed for a long time in schooling.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;As a result, the possibilities of Basugi for art education were identified as follows: the possibilities for the succession and development of traditional art into present time, the possibilities for the diverse approaches on plastic art learning in schools, the possibilities for improving the power of thought by creative expression, the possibilities for plastic experiences in art education by the successive activities from plane dimension to 3 dimension, and the possibilities for uncommon coloring expression in schools.
