현대 디자인 의미 이해를 위한 유아 디자인교육 개선 모색

Methods for Improving Design Education for Young Children"s Understanding of the Meaning of Modern Design

  현대 디자인은 형식을 중시하기보다는 해체한다. 디자인 이미지는 다양한 의미들을 포함하게 되고 디자이너와 소비자의 관계는 양자의 의미를 섭렵하여야하는 과제를 부여받는다. 하지만 현대 디자인 이해의 교육실천은 아직 미약하다. 특히 현행 시행되고 있는 6차 유치원 활동 자료집(교육부 사행)은 디자인 영역조차도 구분되어있지 않다. 디자인교육은 사회, 문화적인 것과 관계하며 시대적 상황을 간과할 수 없다. 디자인을 삶과 연결하고 수용한다는 것은 디자인교육에 있어 중요한 의미를 지닌다. 삶과 밀접한 디자인을 감안할 때 유아 디자인교육의 중요성은 크다. 형식에 편중된 교육을 재고하고 학습자를 중심으로 하는 자율적인 이해구성을 추구하는 교육으로 선회할 필요 있다. 유아의 시기적 특징을 감안한 관계적인 감각적 경험을 강화하는 디자인 이해교육의 필요는 절실하다. 디자이너를 위한 교육 보다는 생활 속에서 디자인을 발견하고 쉽게 접근하는 교육에 의미를 두는 것이다. 그러므로 유아의 다양한 시도, 프로세스를 존중할 수 있는 디자인교육 개선에 대한 관심은 부각되어야한다. 이에 본 연구는 유아디자인교육의 문제점을 지적하고, 현대 디자인에 대한 의미 이해교육이 필요성을 제기하였다. 현대 교육이 객관적 교육에서 과정을 통한 학습자의 지식형성 교육으로 전환하고 있음을 이해, 고찰하여 유아의 생활 속 디자인과의 관계적인 감각적 체험을 통한 디자인 이해교육을 모색하는데 연구목적을 두었다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Modern design does not emphasize a certain form but, rather, tries to eliminate it. Design images include a wide variety of meanings, and a need to accept the meanings of both designers and consumers is added to relations between them. It is apparent, nevertheless, that educational practices are not proper enough to understand modern design. In particular, the currently effective 6th Activities for Young Children, issued by the Ministry of Education, do not categorize even subsections of design.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Design education is related to social and cultural aspects while contemporary backgrounds are taken into consideration. Relating design to life and accepting it into life are very important for design education. Design is so closely related to life that design education for young children can be very important. It is inevitably required, therefore, to reconsider the form-oriented education, to aim toward learner-centered education designed for better self-understanding and to provide education needed to develop an understanding of design, on the basis of their relational and sensual experience. Emphases are put on education that makes it possible for learners rather than designers to easily find design in life because it is more important to have an interest in design education so as to reflect young children’s diversified attempts and processes.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The purpose of this study is to suggest education that helps learners understand design on the basis of their relational and sensual experience in design. To achieve the purpose, this study pointed out some problems with design education for young children and suggested the needs for meaning understanding-oriented education that considers modern design. Also, the study was carried out by understanding and examining the conversion of modern education to learner’s knowledge-oriented education from objective education.
