A Study on the monophthongization of the falling diphthong /'ɨj/

&nbsp;&nbsp;This aim is to search the monophthongization process of the falling diphthong /"？j/. I can find little examples in association with the monophthongization of the /"？j/ in literatures at the 17th and 18th century. But, many evidences in connection with the monophthongization of the falling diphthong /"？j/ is given at the beginning of the 19th century. Therefore, I suppose that the monophthongization of the falling diphthong /"？j/ starts at the end of the 18th century, and finishes at the beginning of the 20th century.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;As yet, it is known that the reason of the /"？j/ monophthongization is a systematic instability of the vowel system after the 15th century. But, I understand the systematic change of vowel system is it"s decisive reason.
