『무문관』의 공안에 나타난 유무상즉의 논리체계

The study on logic system of "kuan"s(公案) in the Gateless Gate (無門關; Wu-wen kuan)

&nbsp;&nbsp;조사선의 공안에서는 자신이 본래 갖고 있는 불성의 자각을 중시한다. 특히 조사들은 붓다가 깨닫고 달마 이래 모든 선각들이 깨달은 중도의 이치를 수단과 방법을 총 동원하여 그의 제자들로 하여금 직접 수행하여 스스로 깨닫게 하려고 한다. 따라서 공안을 읽는 사람들로 하여금 공안이 제시하는 바가 초논리적이며, 파격적인 성격을 강하게 느끼게 만들고 있다.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;그럼에도 불구하고 여기서 필자가 주목하는 것은 깨달음을 여는 중요한 기제(機制)로 인식되는 공안 속에서 일정한 논리형식을 발견할 수 있다는 점이다. 논리를 초월하는 깨달음의 세계를 알리기 위한 하나의 수단으로서 일정한 틀을 나타내고 있는 것이다. 1700개의 수많은 조사들의 공안들이 있지만, 모든 공안의 요체는 중도의 그 자리를 보게 하는 데에 맞추어져 있으며, ‘中正’의 상즉관계에 계합하는 논리형식을 취하고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 『무문관』에 나타난 공안을 중심으로 조사들의 有無에 相卽한 ‘中’과 ‘正’을 어떻게 활용하고 있는지 그 論理體系를 밝힌다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;Zen-master used whatever methods if they are helpful to enlight his disciples, so in the methods, there are very odd ones in common view as like shouting, hiting, etc.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;For that reason, We think that kuan(公案) which is a riddle that zen masters give to enlight zen-practicer is also non-logical.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;But I think kuan has special logic system. For kuan is for the enlightment of middle way(中道), kuan has the logic form to enlight middle way.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;In this paper, we shall see the logic system of koan in the Gateless Gate (無門關; Wu-wen kuan) to test above hypotheses.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;For this aim, we examine the logic of the kuans in the Gateless Gate as like 1) Case 1: J？sh？&quot;s "Mu", 2) Case 3: Gutei Raises a Finger, 3) Case 5: Ky？gen&quot;s "Man up in a Tree", 4) Case 7: J？sh？&quot;s "Wash Your Bowl", 5) Case 10: Seizei Is Utterly Destitude, 6) Case 11: J？sh？ Sees the Hermits 7) Case 14: Nansen Cuts the Cat in Two 8, 8) Case 18: T？zan&quot;s "Masagin".<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;All zen master&quot; enlightment is to enlight the truth of midle way which being is not different to non-being, or being is same to non-being. Zen-masters say about being to the man who attaches to non-being, and non-being to the man who attaches to being, the absolute to the man who attaches to a phenomenon and so on.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;For this reason, the kuan of J？sh？&quot;s "Mu" say that there is not the buddha nature of a dog, though there is the buddha natu re of a dog. We can enlight the truth of middle way through the logic of kuan.
