Dazaiosamu"s 「kachi-kachi-yama」 is a production that included in the 『Otogizoshi』(1945.5.10). In 「Kachi-Kachi - yama」, there are two characters: a rabbit and a raccoon dog. The rabbit represents a person who is realistic and intelligent. The raccoon dog represents an author"s otherself. The fact that they can"t be in harmony shows the contrasting characteristics of people. I observed some factors that led to tragedy between the two characters, as well as contrasting language functions between them. In 「Kachi-Kachi-yama」, the relationship between the rabbit and the raccoon dog is not simply a problem between men and women. It shows that human relationships can bring tragedy. In conclusion, through the story, the author suggests that human relationship are often unhappy and can"t be in harmony.
