정신지체학교의 학교안전사고 실태, 사고처리 및 예방에 관한 교사의 인식 연구

The Current Status, Solutions, and Prevention Strategies of School Safety Accidents at Schools for Students with Mental Retardation

  이 연구의 목적은 정신지체학교의 학교안전사고 실태, 사고 처리 및 예방에 대한 교사들의 인식을 조사하는 것이었다. 초ㆍ중ㆍ고등부가 모두 설치되어 있는 전국의 정신지체학교 75개교를 지역 및 설립 주체별로 임의로 층화표집한 10개교의 교사 중 설문에 응답한 교사 273명이 이 연구의 대상이었다.자료의 분석 결과, 첫째, 85%의 교사가 학생안전사고를 경험한 것으로 응답하였고, 학교안전사고의 주된 원인이 학생의 문제행동이라고 인식하였으며, 73%의 교사는 교사 자신이 학생의 공격행동으로 신체적 상해를 입은 경험이 있다고 보고하였다. 둘째, 학교안전사고 처리와 관련하여 자력구제 방법을 사용한 교사는 75% 였으며, 학생생활규정이나 학교폭력예방법에 따른 조치를 사용한 교사는 적은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 학교안전사고 예방과 관련하여 안전교육이 필요하다고 인식한 교사는 95%였으나 안전교육을 실시한 교사는 56%에 불과한 것으로 나타났으며, 문제행동 중재에 대해 55%의 교사가 그 효과성을 확신하였다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of school safety accidents, their solutions, and the prevention strategies of such accidents at schools for students with mental retardation. Teachers at schools for students with mental retardation across the nation were recruited for this study by sampling 10 schools out of 75 schools based on a cluster (school) sampling with two strata (school location and type of operation).<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;First, 85% of teachers at schools for students with mental retardation had the experience of school safety accidents. It was reported that such school safety accidents most frequently occurred in hallways, stairs, and classrooms at transition periods and lunch primarily as a result of problem behaviors of students with mental retardation. It was also reported that 51% of teachers had been injured at the school safety accidents.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Second, 70% of teachers reported that they had solved the problems by having the stakeholders compromise each other.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Third, the majority of teachers agreed with the need to provide safety promotion education, whereas such education was not being provided as much as they reported that it should be.
