빅셀커넥션과 화폐수량설

Wicksell Connection and the Quantity Theory of Money

  본 논문은 빅셀과 빅셀리언들이 화폐수량설에 대해 어떤 입장을 가지고 있었는가에 대해 살펴보고 있다. 레이욘후푸드가 빅셀커넥션을 화폐수량설과 구분되는 이론적 흐름으로 정리하고 있음에도 불구하고 화폐수량설에 대한 빅셀의 긍정적 평가 때문에 빅셀을 수량론자로 평가하는 시각이 다수 존재하고 있다. 하지만 빅셀의 독창성을 강조하는 학자들은 빅셀을 수량설 반대론자로 구분하고 있으며, 특히 빅셀의 이론체계를 이어받았던 스톡흘름 학파와 오스트리아 학파에서 반수량설적 태도가 분명히 나타난다는 점에서 빅셀의 이론은 이후 반수량설적 이론의 발전에 기여한 것으로 볼 수 있다.

  The purpose of this paper is to examine the Wicksellian appraisal of the Quantity Theory of Money. Even though Leijonhufvud distinguished the Wicksell connection from the Quantity Theory, Wicksell is often classified as a Quantity theorist because of his affirmative attitude toward the Quantity Theory. However, the Stockholm school and Austrian school, which are the hard core of the Wicksell connection, clearly objected to the Quantity Theory. Wicksell"s theory is a coping stone which contributes to the development of an anti-quantity theory.
