It is fundamental for Korean-educated person to have persuasive ability which conveys someone"s opinion to others in a logical way and draws reactions. In addition, it is a necessary to have persuasive ability in order to solve problems rationally in modern society and to get along with others. Therefore, persuasive writing must be learned in elementary curriculum. Then how should persuasive writing be taught to a learner?<BR> This study aims for improvement of a learner"s problem-solving writing using improvisation. Improvisation suggests a main theme followed by a simple group discussion, deciding scene and plot together which can present the main idea. Then, it assigns the roles of characters to each participant and play in front of the audience in groups and discuss on the results.<BR> In the Korean 『SpeakingㆍListeningㆍWriting』 textbook for the second semester of the 6th grade which were edited according to the current Korean education curriculum includes the problem-solving writing. Successful performance of Problem-soving writing task requires the ability to discover the problem situation. However, the contents in the textbook are not sufficient enough to deliver the problem situations, which makes the learners not only hard to recognize them precisely and widely, but also fail to draw dynamic thinking.<BR> The learners can experience the real circumstance in the problem situation through improvisation, becoming one of the characters as well as being able to think about them from many different viewpoints. Therefore, it will be possbile for the learners to suggest various solutions which are closely linked to the problem and also realistic. Also, learners can go through the problems profoundly and come up with creative problem solving methods by looking at the presentations of other groups from diverse perspectives.<BR> However, the problem-solving writing using improvisation is not without problems. It takes a long time to prepare and present it. Besides there is limitation to find the cause and the solution of problem since learners organize the story of improvisation through their own knowledge and experiences.<BR> Despite these problems, the lession using the improvisation is still useful, therefore it should be complemented with other methods.
