The life and literary works of Ocheongchuidang

&nbsp;&nbsp;The purpose of this thesis is to study Ocheongchuidang(pen name, Gyeongseol gook(1704-1732)&quot;s life and literary works. She is female poet who has never been mentioned on the history of literature, even though she wrote a garland Cheongchuidangjip . This thesis is the first one that tried to study her literature.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;When Cheongchuidang got married to her husband, the circumstances of the family of her husband was not so good, because three generations of her husband had not been able to get on the way into the government service including her husband, because they had given up taking the state exam or had failed in the exam, so that there was no relation with the official life for them. Actually, it is not a exaggeration consider them as a downfall gentry of a country. They were driven to live just like the farmers on the economic viewpoint. Cheojngchuidang was married to a man who lived in a country side of Hoseo province and had to run the household and the country life on her own. It is true that the life and literary environment for the females in the old days were not tough. But there was a fundamentally poor difference for her compared to other females of the famous gentry who made brilliant achievements on the history of female literature.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Cheongchuidang wrote the great 182 chinese poems. She dealt with her tough life with her whole body losing her children one by one, working so hard to support the poor family and dying young at the age of 29. Because her Chinese poems describes that kind of fragmentary impression ernestly, we can read a unlucky woman&quot;s whole life in the 18th century from various view points. For Cheongchuidang, creating poems was the part of life, rest, and the utopia.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;This manuscript is on the starting point of opening the study on Ocheongchuidang and her literary works. I tried to make a cornerstone in expanding the prospects of the female literary history by excavating and introducing a new and unknown female poet.
