The Daejeon-Chungnam writing is part of the Korean regional literature. Its literary trends can be identified as follows:<BR> First, the Daejeon-Chungnam literary circles have been formed since the restoration of independence, 1945. Several writers of the circles would publish works in their own voices before the year, but many had a tendency to write works under the shade of the Seoul-Kyungki literary world.<BR> Second, lyricism prevailed from 1945 to 1970s. Even after 1980s, some writers tended to prefer a lyrical voice, but they were not influential.<BR> Third, writers showed their tendency to write realistic works during 1980s. The writers joined the coterie Literature of Living pursued realism energetically, which originated from those of Chae-ho Shin(신채호) and Dong-yup Shin(신동엽). The young writers, who belonged to the Daejeon-Chungnam branch of the National Writers" Association, had power over the field of literature, and the realistic writing became influential.<BR> Fourth, modernism has been insignificant though it appeared at the formative period of the Daejeon-Chungnam literary world. Its writers did not produce much work, but they enriched the literary circles by awakening people to an existential sense of life.<BR> Fifth, the Daejeon-Chungnam literary world tended to show an inclination toward poetry rather than criticism, fiction and drama. This tendency showed a remarkable difference of the Daejeon-Chungnam literary world from other regional literary worlds in which the tendency was also found.
