Textile Recognition and Textile Evaluation Criteria on Clothing Purchasing

  This study was to make a comparative analysis by examining university students" textile evaluation criteria on clothing purchasing and textile recognition according to the genders. The results are as follows: 1) Textile recognition about the cotton fabric was even as to every questionnaire but about the wool the recognitions were radically different. And the recognition about the usage of the synthetic fiber showed rather higher level, but the recognition level about the concrete characteristics of it appeared low. 2) Recognition level differed in the case of natural fibers, showing higher recognition about cotton and flax than about wool and silk. And female students had higher recognition level about cotton and flex fabric than the male students had. 3) In the case of synthetic fibers the recognition about nylon was highest, and female students showed higher recognition level than that of male students about nylon, polyester and spandex. 4) They considered pattern and tactile sensation of the fabric as the most important factor when they purchased clothing, and the female students thought this element more important than the male students did.
