The purpose of this study is to examine the ways to teach English grammar to elementary students in meaningful context using Storytelling. The study first reviews the theoretical and historical backgrounds of Storytelling and Focus on Form approach. Storytelling is an interactive way of teaching English through the use of words and actions from children"s favorite stories. While enjoying the story, learners subconsciously acquire both spoken and written English. The Focus on Form approach involves drawing students" attention to linguistic forms or grammar in meaningful context while its main focus is still on meaning and communication. This approach is different from the traditional grammar teaching approach in that the latter teaches the linguistic forms in isolation. The study also discuss the ways to integrate the Focus on Form approach into a storytelling-based instructional model. By integrating these two approaches, it is possible to help learners develop both fluency and accuracy of English skills. Sample learning activities developed using the integrated instructional model are presented as well. The paper concludes with implications for the elementary English education and suggestions for further research.
