This study aims to analyze English textbooks, developed under the guidance of the 7th National Curriculum from the perspective of language materials, i.e. vocabulary and activities, to have an implication when we write a new textbooks from next year. This study includes the analysis of the current English textbooks for elementary school students, and English textbooks for elementary school students written by the guidance of the 6th National Curriculum, and two Japanese middle school English textbooks. The analysis revealed that the current English textbooks for elementary school students includes several problems: 1) The number of new words increases in a rapid rate at 6th and 7th grades; 2) The vocabulary in the current textbooks should establish the relevance that they are the words that the students should learn in their classes. Vocabulary items in the Revised Curriculum can contribute in choosing the vocabulary for writing the new textbooks; 3) Activities in the textbooks should be decreased and some of them should be selected to adapt them to the students" interest, and considering the present condition of the classrooms.
