IT산업에서의 해외투자의 수출에 대한 영향

The Effects of Outward FDI on Home Country Exports in the Korean IT Industry

  1988년에서 2005년까지의 25개국에 대한 패널자료를 바탕으로 우리나라 IT산업으로부터 이루어진 해외투자의 수출에 대한 영향을 분석하였다. 패널 모형을 통해 추정한 결과 IT 제조업 분야 해외투자의 증가는 IT제품의 수출을 증대시키는 보완적 효과를 가지며 무역수지 흑자에 긍정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 통신서비스 분야나 소프트웨어 분야에서 이루어지는 해외투자의 경우 IT제품의 수출에 통계적으로 유의한 영향이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 IT제품의 수출은 환율의 변동에 크게 영향을 받지 않는 반면 GDP 변수들에 의한 영향은 뚜렷이 나타나고 있어, 가격 변화보다는 구매력 변화가 IT제품의 수출입과 관련해서 중요한 변수임을 알 수 있었다.

  Using the panel data of 25 countries for the period 1988-2005, we analyze the effects of outward FDI on the exports of the Korean IT industry. The results show that an increase in the outward FDI in the IT manufacturing sector encourages the exports of IT commodities and also helps improve trade surplus. An increase in the outward FDI in the telecommunications and the software sector does not have statistically significant effects on the exports of IT commodities. In addition, exports of IT commodities are substantially affected by the changes in GDP variables but are not influenced by the changes in exchange rates.
