&nbsp;&nbsp;Economic crime has characteristics of continuous intellectualization, specialization, large-scale, organization in comparison with the other types of crime.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Economic change has influenced enormously on trends in economic crime. If economic conditions are worsen, the economic crimes increase. If economic crimes increase, the control against economic crimes is strengthened. After all, a high economic crime increase percentage is showed in official statistics.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;In the prosecution’s statistics, ‘prosecution rate’ against economic crime has lower average of 8% than a total crime. It is because the rate of ‘stay of prosecution and unsuspectedness’ against economic crime has higher than a total crime due to difficulty to detect and prove.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;In the court’s statistics, The ratio of the pecuniary punishment against economic crime is higher than a total crime. On the contrary, the ratio of imprisonment against economic crime is lower than a total crime. This statistics show that punishment against economic crime is more lightly than other crimes.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;Considering characteristics of economic crime as above, economic crime demands the countermeasures as follows in order to the efficient measures against economic crime: establishment of the special investigation agency against economic crime, Intelligence activity reinforcement through positive practical use of the money award system and the whistle-blower protection system etc, reinforcement of publicity activities such as “crime damage warning” of the competent authorities for prevention of consumer damage, introduction of various penalty systems such as security-measure against the company, reinforcement of punishment against the juridical person.
