A Study Vocabulary Errors of Korean Language from the Perspective of Interlanguage. Dongnam Journal of Korean Language & Literature 24. Interlanguage is a stage in which in the process of learning a secondary language, learners" language ability is relatively organized and stable. It is controlled by not only grammatical rules of learners" mother language or target language, but also general principles not found in either of the two languages. In this sense, secondary language learners should be regarded not makers of an incomplete language, but creators who approach a normal language through lots of trials and errors and hypothesis tests. In a similar vein, all errors by secondary language learners should be considered not just mistakes, but things that are systematic, universal and changeable. This is especially true in relation to vocabulary from which communication starts and finishes. In accordance with judgemental criteria, types of vocabulary errors can be classified into replacement, omission and addition.
Concerning the poor understanding of the characteristics of Korean vocabulary structure, such vocabulary errors can be classified into formative, semantic, syntactic, expressive and strategical errors. These errors by Chinese learners were investigated to find that those learners made most errors in relation to Korean words which are similar in form. In addition, the learners made lots of errors in relation to postpositions of Korean language which don"t exist in Chinese as an isolating language.
Furthermore, the learners made errors in using connective endings and expressing with reciprocal words. These findings suggest that it is urgently needed to develop a more effective method of secondary language learning
