This study examined mothers" recognition and home musical environments that have influence on early childhood music education, and investigated the relationship between mothers" recognition and home musical environment. This study surveyed with a questionnaire for mothers of early children who attend nurseries or musical institutes (private music institutes and music education institutes), and then analyzed 318 copies attained from the survey. Frequency, mean, t-test, and Pearson correlation were used for data analysis. The results of this study are as follows: First, mothers" recognition of early childhood music education generally appeared to be high. Second, as for home musical environments, most families have insufficient amount of musical instruments, textbooks, and educational instruments, while they have relatively sufficient facilities. As for musical activities at home, both the frequency of activities and their diversity are insufficient. Third, it appeared that the higher mother"s recognition of early childhood music education is, the more musical activities the family carry out. Thus, in order to promote mothers" recognition of early childhood music education and create home musical environments more richly, various parent education and concrete plans for increasing social interest should be worked out. Also, we need practical studies on musical programs that can be carried out along with children at home.
