The purpose of this study was to find out the effects of walking activity on poem writing ability of young children, and to provide empirical information for activating the walking activity program in kindergarten so that the activity can develop the poem writing ability of young children. The subjects of this study were 50 five-year-old children in D kindergarten in Bucheon City, Kyounggido. They were composed of 25 children (16 boys and 9 girls) in the experimental group and the other 25 children (11 boys and 14 girls) in the control group. This study was conducted through pre-test, experiment implementation, and post-test. Data analysis was conducted through frequency, percentage, x2-test, t-test, and paired t-test using the SPSSWIN10.0 program. As a result, the walking activity improved the poem writing ability of young children. This study suggested that it is necessary to actively operate the walking activity program regarding the linguistic development of young children.
