수요가 시간 경과에 따라 감소하는 대여제품의 최적 재고수준

The Optimal Inventory Level with Decreasing Demand in Rental Industries

  대여업체는 그 사업모델의 특성상 대여 제품의 적절한 재고관리가 수익을 극대화하는 문제와 직결되어 있다. 본 연구에서는 대여수요에 불확실성이 존재하고 수요가 대여가격의 함수이며 시간의 경과에 따라 감소하는 형태를 가지고 있을 때, 대여업체의 수익성을 극대화하기 위한 각 시점 별 최적재고수준에 대하여 알아보았다. 그 결과 각 시점의 최적재고수준은 대여 영업을 시작한 후 최초 대여기간이 만료하기 이전 시점에 최고 수준에 이르렀다가, 이후에는 시간이 경과함에 따라 점차 감소하는 형태로 나타났다. 따라서 대여업체는 일정시점 이후에는 보유재고 중의 일부를 조기에 처분하고자 하는 인센티브를 가지게 된다. 또한 수요의 감소 속도가 빠를수록 최적 대여가격도 하락하는 경향이 있음을 알 수 있다.

  This research deals with the issues concerning how many inventories rental retailers should maintain to maximize their profits when rental demand is uncertain as well as decreasing as time goes by, and it behaves as a function of a rental price. It turns out to be that the optimal inventory level shows its peak before the initial rental period comes to an end and decreases after then. As a result, rental retailers tends to have a strong incentive to resale a part of their inventories before termination of rental business. Also we observe the optimal rental price goes down as decreasing speed of the rental demand goes up.
