On the Types of the Noun Phrase in Korean

&nbsp;&nbsp;In this paper, I examine synthetically the types of the Noun Phrase in Korean which can be compared with the sentence types in sentence grammar.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The types of NP in Korean are classified into the NP of &quot;argument+head noun&quot;, the NP of &quot;adjunct+NP", the juxtaposition NP and the Equivalents of NP. The NP of &quot;argument-head noun&quot; is secondarily classified into the predicative NP and the non-predicative NP. In the predicative NPs, I presented the total 46 types of NPs, that is the six types having one argument. the 18 types having two arguments, the 18 types having three arguments and the four types having arguments of a variable number. In the non-predicative NPs, I presented the total 29 types of NPs, that is the 12 types having one argument. the 12 types having two arguments and the five types having arguments of a variable number.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The NP of &quot;adjunct-NP" is secondarily classified into adnoun-modifying NP, adnominal clause-modifying NP, genitive KP-modifying NP, NP-modifying NP, pseudo adnominal-modifying NP, adnominal NP-modifying NP and adverbial-modifying NP. The juxtaposition NP is secondarily classfied into conjunctive NP, paraphrase NP and appositive NP. The conjunctive NP is thirdly classified into josa(Korean particle for NP)-conjuntive NP, adverb-conjunctive NP, conjugation form-conjunctive NP and emumeration NP. The appositive NP is thirdly classified into full appositive NP and partial appositive NP. Futhermore, the co-reference in appositive NP is classified into the semantic one and the pragmatic one on the one hand and into the independent one, the unilateral one and the mutual one on the other hand. Finally, after examining the X&quot;-theory and Projection Principle fundamentally, I argue about the equivalents of NP, which lack of a head noun or, if any, which is not its projection category.
