The purpose of this thesis is to explicate the colonial indication of text and the discourse of oneness in 50s, focusing on I Married a Korean. 『Yeowon』 and reader as a media. 『Yeowon』 focuses on propagating the cultivated woman as the representative magazine of woman in 50s and I Married a Korean which writes the Korean life and the actual experienced as American, woman and wife is the long memorandum published in 『Yeowon』<BR> This work is significant in terms of showing the process of the overcome of the barrier and the success of the love. By the way, we encounter the problem that there are indicative signs of colonial voices in this work ; this work has one discourse in enlightenment like hygiene and scientific improvement of living conditions and another in paternalistic order demanding the traditional woman. Namely I Married a Korean is the text of the ambivalence. In this process, we can prescribe that 『Yeowon』 is the media of the oneness which makes attempt at harmonizing the modern way of life with the consciousness of the male-gender throughout I Merried a Korean.<BR> In summary, this study"s key phrases are as follows: (1) the entangling of the modern pattern and the male gender viewpoint- consciousness of western elite and the discourse of enlightenment, love and maternity, (2) the discourse of oneness throughout the suture of the tradition and modernity- he strategy of identification and the extension of the national project of modernization.<BR> If we want to know times including 1950-60s, we have to not only consider the relation ideological discourse of writer to media and reader but also criticize the oneness of majority using symptom reading. It is expected that this study offers several effective connection between the character of the media and the extension of memorandum.
