시각문화교육의 정의와 담론 구분에 대한 연구

  본 연구는 시각문화교육의 필요성이 확대되는 최근 연구를 검토하며 우리 교육 현실에 적합한 시각문화교육의 이론을 구성하기 위한 기초 연구의 성격을 갖는다. 즉 시각문화교육의 개념에 대한 정의로부터 시각문화교육으로 불리고 언급되는 미술교육 담론들에 대한 검토와 분석을 통해 그것을 보는 관점을 구성하고자 한다. 연구자는 시각문화교육이 대중문화중심담론, 생활중심담론, 미디어중심담론의 틀에서 조명될 수 있으며. 각 담론의 장단점을 이해함으로써 보다 향상된 시각문화교육 이론 형성에 기여할 수 있다고 주장한다.

&nbsp;&nbsp;This study examines how art education reacts to the changing social environment as visual culture becomes prevalent. Visual culture education constitutes the discourses which insist the need to understand and to be aware of the new media environment such as popular culture, art and life. I distinguished the discourses of visual culture education into popular culture-based discourse. life-based discourse, media-based discourse. The perspective on visual culture education depends on the phenomenal aspect. relation with life. the interest in the visual language of visual culture. This can be termed as education about visual culture. education through visual culture, education of visual culture. The popular culture-based discourse aims for the proper understanding on visual culture phenomena. This aims to raise critical awareness on popular culture. to build the ability of the visual communication through visual language, and to educate as a member of democratic society through the link of extra-school experiences and within school education.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;The life-based discourse understands visual culture education as a process to enhance the understanding of individual lives in order to diversify the experiences. to respect different ways of lives and to increase social understanding and cooperation through art. This will grow the ability to experience. question and change the world and link between people. The media-based discourse aims to grow the ability to use the media, to analyze. understand and interpret the visual culture media by focusing on the wide influences of media. Through the education of digital media. the learners can become familiar with media environment.<BR>&nbsp;&nbsp;I tried to show that visual culture education is related with the ontological growth of learners. synthesis of life and art. creation of new visual language offering enormous educational possibilities. Visual culture education. not merely the academic discipline on visual culture. concerns the multiple relations of life as education strives to realize life.
